Has any one ever changed motor mounts on a 12 valve and if so how difficult is it and how long does it take ? Can I lift the motor using a large block of wood under the oil pan or do I need to get an engine lift ?

I don't know if it will damage the pan, but it would be a pain to work around. I'd use a hoist.

Mounts

You can use a block of wood with no issues , you should be able to do both oin a few hours
Do you need to pull the rear valve cover for clearance when raising the engine or is there enough room to replace the mounts? Any better than oem? My engine is settling. Thanks! Very informative site.

I think you should have enough room with out pulling the cover I did remove it for the installation though for clearance but to loosen the mount I think you will be fine .

If you raise the engine enough for the valve cover to hit the fan will likely hit the shroud and the flexibility will be maxed out on the intercooler hoses. The downpipe will hit the floorboard too.
