I have a sticking AFC guide pin (along with some seepage), and need to know how to get to the pin and bore so I can change the seal or o-ring. The lever that actuates the AFC control gets in the way, and it is hard to see what exactly is going on in there. I have a seal kit, and intend to clean up the rest of the pump, but I havent been able to figure this one out.

Got the pump top off; how does one remove the lever? It is bound in there by the pin that goes through the linkage, and there appears to be no way to get it out.

You will simply drive that pin out. There is a ball bearing pressed into the aluminum casting at each end of the pin. Drive one ball into the casting thereby pushing the opposite out. Then drive the pin into the casting, thus forcing the other ball out.

If you don't drive them correctly i. e. properly support the body of the casting, you will destroy said casting. I use a short piece of pipe secured in a large bench vice to set the casting on and the balls will drop into this pipe.

You mau wish to retain the balls for further use or buy oversized to replace the older smaller ones. Either way works and I simply reseal the area with a small dab of two part epoxy. I suppose J-B Weld might work??? I use Permatex two part mix cups.

The epoxy will pop off if/when it comes time to remove this pin and lever again.
