hey there, I ran Valvoline extreme blue synth for yrs, with extended oil intervals with oil samples every 3k miles , got to it up to 12k till I could not get it any more. now for yrs I have running cat brand ci+4 regular dino, I still pull samples every other change. im about at the price point for amsoil for extended intervals.

so the question is am I able too go back to synth or am I going to have to add a bunch because of engine use or is it going to leak out of everywhere?

thanks...

I don't think you will have any problems. I haven't. Did you have issues when you switched back to conventional oil? It doesn't sound like it. Not to start an oil war.... If I was to go full synthetic, I would use a brand that I can buy just about anywhere such as Rotella T-6 full synthetic or a Valvoline full synthetic. Rotella T-6 can be found at Wally World, Napa and the other big box auto parts stores and lastly, Truck Stops. My $0.02 worth

My local NAPA stocks a 3 gallon case of Valvoline Premium Blue Extreme for me. I've only needed to wait a day one time because a customer bought a single gallon a few days earlier.

I have had 3 Cummins since 1992 and I ran Mobil Delvac 1300 Super in everyone of them including my current ride. All were bought new. The first one was sold with 240k on it. The second one is still running around with over 275k on it. The '05 has over 379k on it now. I have averaged 6000 miles between changes on all the trucks. So far, no oil related issues.
