Changing rear axle seal the hard way

I just got done changing my rear axle seal. I had one small problem. I broke that little piece of stamped steel that locks the 2 9/16" nut in place. I went to my local ***** dealer, and got a new one. It took them a while before they knew what i was talking about. But they found it i the parts book. By the way it is part #4797726 incase any one never needs it. I got it for the low cost of $4. 95 plus tax. If it wasnt for the fact I've trailered a truck home after that nut came off (very ugly), I would have bent a piece of metal to fit. And they only wanted $50 for a new nut. I didnt need one, just was wondering. Other than breaking the clip, it was easy to do.
