Greetings one and all,

On the 06 model what type of filter wrench is out there to get to filter from bottom side? Looks like from the top side you have to take off air box and air tube for the turbo.

Know for the dumb question do the bolts on top of filter housing have anything to do with the filer?

Thanks in advance

The bottom of the oil filter is flutted for a cup shaped filter wrench.

www.genosgarage.com sells them.

I bought mine at wal-mart, the evil empire.

The bolt on top has nothing to do with an oil change, it's a place where you can install a sending unit for oil pressure.

My oil filter from the factory was on sooooooo tight I barely got it off with a strap wrench, which is about the best. After inspecting the factory oil filter I noticed they did not oil the gasket.

I have a 3 finger wrench tha goes on a ratchet that gets a good tight grip on it when you start to losen it. just make sure you have a good long extention.

Walmart oil filter wrench 6 IN 1

I found a filter wrench @ WALMART (6 IN 1), for $3. 00, it is orange in color, and you can use it on other size of oil filter. Works perfectly removing the factory oil filter on my 2006 Mega Cab.

I still have the programs if somebody has a lathe and mill. I've been thinking of starting over and staying away from the industrial accounts, just sticking with consumer products ... ... ... ..... I dunno, hauling horses is pretty fun for now after machining for 20 years :D

Do you still have the shop?

I liquidated when RCA shut down ... ... ... ... GE (lighting division) wanted to pay in 120 days ... ... ... ... . DuPont was laying off and PPG was always weird to deal with. The little town of Circleville, Ohio lost over 7,000 jobs in a 2 year period. RCA was always my bread and butter though. I could walk right into purchasing at RCA and the engineers would walk right in my shop, it was a good thing. I'm thinkin of ways to get back into cuttin metal though, but with the global economy, I'm steering clear of anything industrial. I spent years and years doing government surplus before I started my own shop, but that **** is so overhead intensive, it aint funny. The paperwork costs more than the parts!!! I've heard all the $800. 00 hammer jokes, it aint the supplier!!!

Cuttin metal gets in your blood, I'll be back eventually :D

thanks to all the replys,
