It's time for me to change my transmission fuild(30k) and on the service guide that the dealship provides it says that if you just drain the pan, 70% of the fluid remains in the converter and transmission... . but they did have a service called BD that flushed all the fluid out and replace 100% of the fluid.

So how do you guys deal with this when you go to a synthetic fluid or different brand, etc. Do you just replace the 30% or is there a trick that I need to know about?

Also what synthetic transmission fluid and rear-end(it's not a limited slip) lube are you guys using?

sounds like it's time for a new TC with a drain plug .

the flush is not that good an idea , first they don't drop the pan and change the filter , unless you want to pay close to another $100 for that service , thats what my dealer wanted , i laughed all the way out the door . anywho , if you remove the line at the drivers side front that will drain most of the fluid from the TC , drop the pan , change the filter and that gets a good percentage of it out , now would be the time for a mag hytec pan , if you don't already have a pan with a drain plug . now if you had an aftermarket TC , which is beeter than the piece of junk the factory installs , you could remove the plug and get most of it out . but then again not all aftermarket TC's have a drain plug , i didn't see one in a JRE/Pro-torque Xtreme i was spinning over by hand when checking valve lash on a friends ram ...
