do a search on this , the bolts are backed off and used to press the hub out of it's socket. there are pictures on this site so search it .

A standard 12 pt. socket fits nicely.

If the hubs are rusted on, back the bolts out about 1/4", leave the socket on, slip a large socket with an extension over that one, then use the power steering to turn the steering wheel so the extension contacts the 'boss', then turn the wheel hard. If that doesn't work, back off a hair and 'smack' the wheel. That should push the hub loose. Then buff the rust off both surfaces and apply a thin coat of anti-seize so it'll be easier next time.

Be aware that the large axle nut requires 172+ lb-ft of torque. You'll probably want to remove it while the tire's on the ground.

The first time I used a puller on my 4wd the unit bearing came apart, just took the opportunity to put more grease in, got lucky has worked fine for many years.

I have used my puller on 6 hubs and the hub units pulled apart on every one of them. The outer flange of the hub unit is rusted so bad and the puller is pulling off the wrong part of the hub unit. I bought the Snap-On socket, but have not needed to try it yet.

The factory recommends pushing them off from the back since they are aware

That using a puller can allow them to come apart
