Two 4x4 pulls in West VA.

Hi, I'm a brand new subscriber from the Santa Momica area. I bought two Cummins powered Rams (89, 94) from Claude Short Chrysler/Plymoputh, but now wouldnt go back unless I had to.

My current truck is a black '94 2500 with BD 1500rpm convertor, bigger injectors and bd camplate, plus K&N, big ole glasspack and 4" pipe. I think when I bought the stuff, they were'nt commonly assigning the numbers I see you guys bandying about for the parts, so I don't know which injectors or plate, but I was assured I could get over 300hp at wheels if I wanted. I set it for best compromise between smoke and power near 4 yrs ago and its been great ... . 0-60 under 10 seconds, will top 105mph, never hit 800F on pyro (after turbo).

BUT, I need to locate a good Diesel mechanic in my area ... I think I'm developing a rod knock on #6. and my pyro is dead.

Any help appreciated.

When I lived in SoCal, I only trusted two people to work on my engine: Jim Leonard, an ace mechanic (retired from Cummins) & TDR member who works out of his house out in Riverside, and Merlon Johnson at Glen Thomas Dodge in Long Beach. You can find Jim's phone number (he's not on the net) on the TDR website "links" page under engine performance. Tell him I sent you. G. T. Dodge is the only dealership I would ever deal with in SoCal. BTW, they're the home of the December Dieselfest on the first Saturday in December. Mark your calendar, you don't want to miss it!

If you're looking to have any aftermarket modifications done, like an exhaust brake, Horton fan clutch, etc, Jim's your man! He also developed his own 4" exhaust system, using seamless stainless steel mandrel bend tubing. Seamless is more expensive, but it's more durable.
Jim even swapped in a 6-speed into his '98.

Thanks Andy, I'll Probably try Jim first, but will certainly stop by Glen Thomas. I love these trucks, but havent had good service from my local dealer (fortunatley I havent needed much, done my own, 'cept warranty work). I appreciate your prompt and valuable feedback!
