5th wheel to goose neck in a megacab

I just bought a travellong tandom axel dually dump trailer. I saw it came with two batterys wired in seires (24volt) to run the pump to operate the dump.

I thought it was just two batteries parellel (12 volt) and hooked up to the charge wire from the truck.

does anybody have any ideas as to how to take the 12 volt charge wire from the truck and charge the two batteries that are wired in series without having to disconnect the batteries and charge one battery at a time?

You need to set up a set of relays..... one set are like a starter solenoid and the other set are ice cube relays... . when the trailer is dumping, the system switches to 24 volts and dumps the load... . as soon as the dump is done... the starter style solenoids (another name for a relay) unlocks and during the charge cycle the ice cube relays, usually rated at 25-30 amps charge the batteries.....

I'd wire this in so that when you flipped the switch to start the pump to dump the load it also flipped the starter solenoids (relays) to make the 24 volts and as soon as you stopped the pump they would fall out and the charge relays would kick in... ...

Simple series parrallel circuit used for years on graders and cats... .

Hope this helps...
