Engine/Transmission (1998.5 - 2002) cheap 24 valve motor for sale

I have a buddy that has a 2001 24 valve motor that was in a fire,,

water pumps,,manifold,,injector pumps. cooler,,is all there,,mnotor had 45000 km. .

Any one have any idea what it's worth??

Had one at the local auto recycling center-it had 32,000 miles-guy paid $2100 for it and sold it for $3000. Engine was out of a 2000 with everything on it.

this thing has the valve cover melted on it as well as other various aluminum bits burned up. .

Should he just sell it to a rebuilder as a core,,,

I can pick it up for about $600. 00...
