I want to be sure and get my turbo cooled down properly but dont have a ton of money to spend on the Genos Garage type timers. Also i think it would be way cool to see the look on peoples faces when i pulled up to school got out, locked the truck, and walked away engine still running.

Patience is pretty cheap... if you have the time, besides, who's in a hurry to get to class???

MaX

Ps. Seriously, if you're planning on BOMB'n it, get a boost/EGT gauge and shut it down yourself.

I have seen timers for $80 bucks. However these will not just plug in with the nifty harness. You need to wire them in like aftermarket alarms. It is not hard if you know what your doing but I feel that my time is worth the extra money for the genos timer. Good luck.

It was suggested here once...

that a "headlight timer shutoff" from a mid-80's car might do the trick. Look around at local junk yard (er-automotive recycling center).

SPA's can do this, I have an email conversaion with HVAC about it, just need to find some time to do it.

I have a SPA, is HVAC coming out with a kit to do this, or is it just some wiring?

I just shut down at <300*. I have a vague idea as to what an SPA is, which i think would be ok, but i dont think a head lite timer would work well due to the varying amounts of time needed to cool turbo.

when showing off to class mates she'll be nice n hot, but when rollin through the park with the girlfriend , to PARK, it will be a little cooler.

(Hi skool or college school? I found you get away with bigger burnouts at college school, even though my old ride was a ranger... )

PS I carry 2 keys on seperate rings so i can lock up and leave it runnig at the store or a short stop in the hot august or in cold january-- love those climate controls!! And i have a bad habbit of locking keys in truck#@$%!

No I think he was, but went the other way with SPA, and so now it's just a matter of wiring it up. If you want I'll post what he told me.

Shutdown Switch

I told TxDK I don't mind him sharing our discussion with those here on the board. I appreciate his not just giving up the info without checking with me.

The inovaters of this device were Dave and Mike, friends of mine that were the people that brought the SPA gauges to the diesel truck market. They never did produce a prototype switch unfortuately.

Since then we built some very simple switchs which work fine, just no safety measures factored in.

I'll let TxDK take it from here. I'm trying to get my head back on my engine for Muncie.

Since getting guages, I've found that if I turn off my exhaust brake and idle the last couple of blocks to wherever I'm stopping, I will be at 300 degrees or less. It drops real fast. If not, I sit there a couple of minutes until it is. Don't really need a timer. Get guages so you know exactly what you're doing.

HVAC, I'm there for ya man. :D

I don't know exactly how it works, but he is the conversition we had, he will show me how if he makes it to Munice too. . Oo. Oo.

SPA's have a ground signal output that can be set to whatever you like on the Pyro.

you have to wire it to the key so that when you put it out, it stays on, I think. Like i say, I'll know more after Munice.

he also went one to tell me another neat trick!
