Check engine for the first time

2017 3500 with 75k miles here with a new amber check engine light never seen before. Did the 3 key on off test and get the usual start up info I see all the time which is ....service tire pressure system --done--. Then perform service. Then service airbag system. Oil and fuel filters still plenty of life left. Ccv filter was changed out. How do I find out what the check engine light is referring to?

You need a code reader to get the code.
Get your own or go to autozone or someplace and get them to read it for you.

You could also try a soft reset of the system, but likely will need a code reader.

Hold the menu and volume/mute buttons until the screen blanks.

Not sure if it matters but I was told to have engine running.
