Ok, I followed the instructions and searched the archive first. Today, for the first time, the check engine light came on. Never saw it before. Saw that in a post, too. I followed the guidance (3 key-ons, watch for flashy lights) to check the PCM codes, and never saw anything blink at all. But I think I am seeing low charging voltage on the gauge, so I am guessing the alternator is not charging.
If it's a cooked PCM, RockAuto tells me it's a $350 investment. There are threads about installing a stand-alone regulator for way less than a new PCM. What else do I lose if I don't fix the PCM? I just replaced the speedo sensor. For a while, on Murphy days, I'd have no speedo or lockup. So far, with the new sender, I've not had a dead speedo.
Anything related here?
Thanks for any advice.
