Next week will be my seventh trip to my local Dodge Dealer in one year for activation of my check engine light. I have had numerous code activations and reprograming done since I purchased my 2014 4X4 2500 Tradesman almost a year ago.

I have only 9800 miles on the truck. My question to Forum Readers is this, Is this NORMAL for a 2014 to have so many activations and needed software updates? Are there others having the same problems too. My tolerance is beginning to wear thin. I never had such problems with my 99' second generation.

I hope Dodge and Cummins Engineer's can get their act's together.

I've had a few check engine lights also. They always clear by themselves, however, there seems to be a never ending list of software updates to be done on these new trucks.

In these seven service visits to the dealer, what have they done to your truck on each visit?

I consider software updates a good thing, they are done to improve and enhance the product..........

Is it the same problem and fault codes every time, or different problems? What have they done besides software updates? I'm thinking there were probably only a couple of updates over a years time.

All the software updates are current. Today, I went in to Reno Dodge and they discovered an Ammonia senor activation which was my first Check engine light the day I bought the truck nearly one year ago (P24 code) there was a TSB bulletin and a software update that went with this code. Everything was updated.....So now the truck is at the dealership awaiting a diagnoses by the diesel tech to figure out why this is re-occurring. I hope he can figure this problem out, time will tell.
