Engine/Transmission (1998.5 - 2002) Check engine light...fuel pressure related?

My check engine light comes on occasionally, especially when the temperatures drop below the teens. At first I thought there might be a problem with gelling, but now I am thinking that perhaps my lift pump is about to crap out, or already has. What are your thoughts on this? Also, I plan on purchasing a fuel pressure gauge, is 0-15 psi a broad enough reading range?

i am not familiar with any codes that can be set due to low FP but, i could be wrong. My advise is to pull the codes on the truck, even if the check engine light goes out the codes are still stored in the ecm or pcm until u have someone with the proper software to pull and erase them.

p2016 is the most common code that can be set by low fuel psi,but it can also be worse..... the vp-44 can be dead with that code. Another lift pump code is P0230,have been seeing a few more of these lately,Mostly 01 and up. It is transfer pump out of range.
