Archived Check engine light - goes to idle only

Does anyone know what this problem might be - before I try having the ecm scanned for trouble codes? Driving along, the engine will suddenly go to idle and the accelerator pedal will not control the motor when pushed and the check engine light is lit.



After a short period of time coasting at idle and pushing the accelerator pedal, the motor will suddenly respond again to the accelerator pedal, but the check engine light stays on. It is slowly starting to happen more frequently. Anyone know what it may be? Thanks!

You need to get it scanned. Now the bad news. It appears that the lst few posts on this subject has resulted in a new VP44. But you never know so get it scanned.

probably is the vp-44 injection pump. however could be the apps. do the scan and get the codes.

Don't know if it always works this way but mine did this and it was the APPS. It would turn on the light every time this happened. It would lose power for a few seconds and then recover. A couple of years later the VP-44 started acting very much the same way but it would not turn the light on. As the others said, have it scanned.
