Guys, my truck's check engine light came on when I started it this morning. No power and no boost readings on my FMS digital boost readout. Can anyone tell me the MAP sensor voltages so I can double check them to see whether its the box or the MAP sensor? Either way I will need to take it to the dealer to scan the comp (99, no code readout) and get the code(s) cleared.

Any help is very greatly appreciated. We are moving tomorrow and I need this fixed yesterday.

I will do a search, call Chip @ Blue Chip and the dealer.

Ok, I d/c the negatives, touched a negative to a positive to help it drain faster, turned on the key. Power is back, FMS fuels like normal, but check engine light is still on. The lady at Autozone looked at it. P0237, low MAP sensor voltage.

She could not clear the light though, I asked why. She said they used to be able to but when a guy's engine blew up because of it, they got sued, and can ONLY look at the codes. The codes are now in the history, but light is still on. Maybe it will go out by itself.

I am going to look into a new MAP sensor today and run my without my FMS.

The light might go away after a few more key cycles.

My MAP would do that oocasionally. Truck would just stop responding to my right foot. Lots of revving, but no power. Then it would be like somebody kicked it in it's rear, and it would pick up and go, but the light would be one untill the end of the current key cycle, or the next two cycles.

I went ahead and swapped a new MAP sensor in. Problem went away. However if it returns soon it may be my FMS harness. But, all is back to normal now. MAP took 5 minutes to replace, of course you have to have the 1. 25" deep socket.

And yeah, the light went away eventually. Sluggish pedal returned a few more times before the MAP was replaced, but now that I replaced it, it hasn't returned.

Thanks, Nick

The light will go away after a certain amount of time/restarts. I had this and it freaked me out for a while. It was the harness on my box had a loose wire.

I have the same thing going on now, slow to no throttle response, low boost, and code p0237. I am going to pick up a map this afternoon and see if it fixes it.

Get the part from Cummins, no Dodge/Mopar. It's less than $100 from Cummins and over $120 from Dodge/Mopar.

boost voltages

0=1. 045v,6=1. 48v,10=1. 75v,15=2. 05v,18=2. 27v,20=2. 44 volts. Save your old maps and measure the resistance of it to the good one and see if it is different mine were very close and made no difference in lack of performance. More wasted money by the cry-slerrrr teckkkies. Hope this helps.

replaced map, still need help

Replaced the MAP and still got no power, boost or smoke.

Truck runs and idles smooth but has very low power.

I cleared the codes, but they came back as soon as I started it. The codes are p0237 and p1693. Where do I look now, could it be the apps or injector pump? It first started a few mornings ago when it was about 32 degrees, ran fine that after noon after truck warmed up, but has run bad ever since. I will post this again as a new post in the 911 if needed.

How do I get those numbers on a volt/ampmeter?

I tried it the other day, from the harness while the engine was on, set on "20" on the voltmeter, got . 60 from two, . 60 from two, and 0 from another pair of two. I suck at electronics, who knows if I am doing it right! All I know is my new MAP sensor is doing its job.

Also, about the dealer, this is the first part I have ever bought from a dealer (bought the 99 truck used in 02, without warranty) and was afraid to pay over 100 bucks but got the thing for $101. 50. Not much off from the Cummins prices.

boost specs

Boost Pressure Sensor.

Pressure[inHG] Voltage (V)

0 0. 44 to 0. 56

25. 45 1. 44 to 1. 56

50. 90 2. 44 to 2. 56

75. 35 3. 44 to 3. 56

101. 80 4. 44 to 4. 56
