What is the 1693 code on a 2001? The tack was also not coming up past a grand. Is this what happens when the cam sensor goes out. Thanks for the help. Derek

I believe that is a companion code. It won't tell you anything. Get a scanner to read any other codes that aren't showing up when you cycle the key.

Yeah, all the 1693 means is that the PCM knows that there is a code in the ECM. You need to find out what the code in the ECM is.

You should fill out your signature so we know what year your truck is...

It's my dads truck and it is a 2001 and it is stock. I went ahead and changed the cam sensor and unplugged the computer and right now all is well. I read in another thread about the tach acting up and throwing the check engine code and the truck still ran good, so I will see if this fixes it.
