the odometer when cycled for codes shows a 1693 yet the brand new code reader says NO codes! The check engine light has been on ever since I put the new VP 44 this February. Truck runs fine, though not as good as it did before the pump went out. I am gonna try a resistor or light bulb on the original lift pump circuit, since I operate the lift pump off a relay now instead. Perhaps the fact that the lift pump circuit is not connected to anything the computer thinks there is a problem? << UPDATE>>, Went to Lowes to pickup some conduit and on the way home the check engine light is GONE! Hooking the two lamps to the original lift pump positive wire, they draw 1. 1 amps total, must have done the trick!

The 1693 code just means that there was a DTC detected in the ECM OR PCM, depending on which computer detected a fault. What youy might have is the computer that detected the fault has cleared itself (the fault did not return) and the snitch (computer showing the 1693) has not gone enough start/run cycles to clear yet.
