Check Engine Light & Tach Problems

Fellow Rammers:



Truck recently started having the follwing symptoms: Start up fine, drive about a block and a miss, check engine light comes on, tach drops to zero and have hesitation 'til she warms up. Tach pops back up, no hesitation. At first, check engine light would clear, but doesn't any more. Get a P1693 fault code. Anyone got any ideas wuts the matter?

P1693 only says a companion code has been set in both the ECM & PCM in the service manual. no help I guess.

From what I've seen here when you have a performance problem and also lose the tach people generally suspect the crankshaft sensor. I think the manual has a troubleshoot table. I believe replacement isn't too many $$$.

Sounds like the cranshaft position indicator to me to. Don't drive much further. It will put you down.

Definitely a crankshaft position sensor. Mine went out at 12-miles.
