Engine/Transmission (1998.5 - 2002) check engine light

i just put a comp on my 02 three weeks ago. It threw my truck into limp mode and check engine light came on . after troubleshooting every thing i switched boxes and determined that it was the box itself. Edge is sending me a new box so all is well but my question is this. After removing the box the truck runs good and light went off. The light stays on all the time with the ignition on but without the engine running,start the engine and it will be gone. is this just a sign that the engine has pulled a code before?what can i do to remove it. 02 QC/LB 5spd. Usually to completely remove a code, you have to have a scan tool. Then you can read and erase the code. Depending on what it is, you may disconnect the batteries for about 20 minutes and solve your problem. I've never had to do that on my truck, but it works on my wifes Jeep Grand Cherokee.
