check engine light

Hey guys just got a check engine light and cycled ignition and i cant get codes to come up is it the same as with the 5. 9 engines or is something different thx

It would be nice if they could get some standardization , instead of delebritly keeping the things that need to be know the same vs changing the things that need to be changed .
Sorry that did not help , you may need to get a code reader , but check to make sure it works with your truck [ it can take up to a couple yrs to get a cheaper after market tool ] .

change to the "trip" display on the odometer and then turn the key on/off three times within 5 seconds and the odometer should show the codes

Ill try that maybe i should just buy the new edge computer not sure i want to be a pattsy for new products

checked codes and this is all that comes up ------- done. so nothing light is still on#@$%!

You may want to try your local automotive parts store "Advance Auto" etc. You can typically borrow a scan tool and see if it comes up with a code that your dash is not displaying.
