Was driving home from Wal-Mart this afternoon and the CEL came on while sitting at the stop light. It runs fine and starts up right away. I did have to go through the priming process a few weeks ago for some strange reason, but only once. The truck is stock 1999 3500 except it has a Fass DDRP. It has 217. 336 trouble free miles. Could this be the VP44 and is there any way to check for codes without a scanner.

Thanks

I called Auto Zone this afternoon but I guess they are closed for Easter. Do these pumps go out with no warning of any kind. Truck has never had anything do to it but the fuel filter canister was replaced 2 years ago due to leaking. Thats when the FASS was put in at the same time. No codes at that time

I would wait until you see the code. Could be a map sensor, VP code, the list goes on. If it is still running that is a good thing.

I have to go in to work early tomorrow so I will have to wait until I get home in the afternoon to take it to Auto Zone. If they can't do it I have a friend that works at Cummins Atlantic in Greensboro and I will give him a call. By the way mine still has the 53 block in it. We use to be in the heavy construction industry when there was a such thing and I towed some fairly large loads with it. Love that Jacobs brake with the 5 spd.

Keeping my fingers crossed on the 53

Will post what I find out.
