Check Engine Light?

I have a friend that left his key turned to on with the radio playing while he took his ez off of his truck. This caused a check engine light to come on the dash. Will leaving the battery disconnected for a while reset the check engine light?

after the third or fouth start it will "reset" itself... to clear the memory of the 'puter [pcm] disconnect the batteries and it will drop the code out... it will stay on the ECM though

Be nice to one of your dealer mechanics and they'll clear the ECM with the scan tool.

I think you have to drive it a few miles and do the on/off thing with the key. Just switching the key several times didnt do squat until I put it in drive and went around the block and tried it a few times. I didnt even have to undo the batt.
