I'm new to the whole diesel thing , so I was wondering if anyone besides me has had the check engine light come on for a cam position sensor? I took it to the dealer and they said it was a fluke and not to worry about it, I just wondered if anyone else has experienced this?

Also, had the axle, transfer case and manual trans fluid checked and sure enough the rear axle was 1 quart low!!!!

Thanks to all of you for getting the word out on these problems, otherwise I would never have thought to have the fluids checked :)

So much for the dealer "preping" the truck. They told me when I got mine that they check all the fluids and stuff, then again that was in 1997

Hey Rich, Sorry about the accident! Been there, done that, got the t-shirt. You might want to watch out for some of these new insurance companies " damage assessment centers" I had a REALLY bad experience with one about two years ago. Ended up spending about $600,00 out of my own pocket to get truck fixed anf it was the other guy who hit me. :-{} Good Luck!

Yes, I had the check engine light come on. Dealer said cam position sensor. He turned it off, and I've driven about 50 miles since that.

Thanks Eking, looks like a total though. I will find out in a day or two. Frame, everything infront of engine, power train pushed back into firewall, airbag deployed and some other stuff. can't believe it I was only going 30 mph when someone pulled out of a intersecting street taking a left from my right and hit my front. He got a citation. Guess he didn't see the stop sign either.

Whats the saying... Can't Dodge 'em RAM 'em Talk about suicide.
