Engine/Transmission (1998.5 - 2002) Check Engine Light

The last two times that I have refueled the check engine light has come on the second time that I start the engine. It stays on for a couple of starts then goes out. I have made sure that the fuel cap is securely fastend after each refueling.

What might be causing this to happen?

Post the specifics on your truck. Year, model, trans, etc. .

You likely have some codes set in your truck. Depending upon the year of your truck you might be able to check the codes with the ignition key sequence. Turn ignition (do not start engine or bump starter) to on-off-on-off-leave on and read code(s) in dash until it indicates *** done. Earlier model years will need a code reader. These codes should help point you in the right direction
