Lately my check gauge light has been staying on a lil longer after start up. The amps look a little low but after driving it stays just above 14 like normal. I have had no problem with starting but the last time it happened my batteries were bad. Could this be my 3rd set of batteries in 3 years? JB

John,

If it's cold where you're at, two things may be causing the light to stay on a bit longer than normal.

First, if your voltage drops below 8, like mine does when it's really cold out and heating the grids, it will stay on, even after the engine is started, for a bit.

Second, it may take a bit longer for your oil pressure to register if it's cold, also triggering a light.

I've got both of them going right now since it's only in the single digits here and I'm running 15W40 oil!

Hope this helps.

Loren
