For the past several months I keep getting a "Check Gauges" alert. A chime sounds and the Check Gauges message lights up. Doing the ignition switch ON-OFF-ON-OFF-ON shows code P0156. Sometimes the alert happens once every few days and other times it happens many, many times in just a few miles.
Very aggravating.
Here is what I have had done:
1. Took it to a local Dodge dealer/service and described the problem. I also said that according to the Dodge TDR forums there is a TSB (08-004-03) that appears to deal with this problem. The TSB calls for a computer "reflash". Later that day the dealer phoned and said they had found the problem (leaking water pump and a bad radiator cap) and that the reflash was not needed. They replaced the water pump and radiator cap. You guessed it, the Check Gauges alert came on on the way home from the dealer.
2. I took it back to that dealer the next day but they didn't have any ideas.
3. I took it to a different Dodge dealer and insisted they do the computer reflash. They did the reflash but the Check Gauges alert kept on happening.
4. I took it to the 2nd dealer again and this time they said the Battery Temperature Sensor was bad (because of the P0156 code). They changed the sensor and, once again you can guess what happened. I got the Check Gauges alert while driving out of the dealer's driveway.
??? Now what should I do? ??? Note: I am not a mechanic. My skill is limited.
