'Check Gauges' light staying on

I recently installed a Banks Bullet, Banks Ram Air and MBRP exhaust, all with no ill effects. Today, I installed the EGT probe for the Bullet and connected it to the Bullet. The installation went without a hitch, but now the 'check gauges' light is staying on. It's not flashing, just staying on solid. I tried disconnecting the batteries for about 10 minutes, but it didn't clear it out. Any suggestions? TIA, Jim.

If you tapped into one of the wires for illumination of the bullet it may cause a low voltage to the guage cluster. Just a idea, maybe wrong.

May not have anything to do with you installation other than happening at the same time you are working on something.



You could have thrown a code. Did you check for a code?

Well, the light just went out on its own, and everything seems to be OK now. I'm thinking that maybe some emissions system sensor was picking up the grease I used while drilling for the thermocouple, or the anti-sieze I put on the threads. Thanks for the replies.

You probably threw a code, gone after several start-ups. No sensors to pick up anything on the exhaust manifold, anti-sieze would have just heated up and cooked off the inside, the probe is not enough to cause any kind of restriction, and even then - no sensors.



While our trucks DO have some great technology in sensors, not exhaust manifold and aft, and not capable of any kind of chemical sensing.



If you do a key test for codes, bet you will find one, possibly two.
