 My 4" exhaust was getting louder, I just thought the muffler was getting burnt out. Trip to the muffler shop for ways to quiet it down a notch. On the rack the guy shows me a hole about an inch square in the pipe out of sight above the crossmember. Seems the torque twist of the Cummins pulled the hanger from the crossmember completely out of the pipe. A pipe patch and a few welds later the sound level was good. Now I'm unsure if I need another hanger or if it will stay put with the closest hanger at the muffler. What do the informed minds think? Ponz

Well if the hanger got ripped out of the spot it was... I wouldn't put another hanger in the same spot. You can normaly tell if you need more hangers as the exhaust will be wiggiling around. How are your hangers mounted to the frame, are they directly bolted to the frame? Or do you have poly or rubber mounts for them? Also a suggestion, I put a piece of flex about a foot long in my system to allow the pipe to move around a bit under torque and load. The flex with the poly hangers give it enough movement to prevent any breaks, but not enough to see the pipe wiggilin around.
