I Want A Crewcab!!!

1995 ford 1 ton conv to a cummins

Sweet

I talked with the guy a bit, did it himself. Very nice guy, I will be looking for parts for my 6bt fj40 now! and searching here for info.

I always heard diesels run cooler then gassers, I have a built smallblock in my other fj40 it runs pretty cool, and my friend has a built 454 in his and he has no problems. A good radiator is the key.

I think there is more room under a fj40 hood then a 2 gen truck. Maybe its just i can see the engine, rather then see it hidden under the dog house.

Now exhaust and driveline length is some trouble, I just asked the owner about this.

BTW:

THANK YOU MARKF, you just made my day, and lead onto my next PROJECT.

I have a 1995 Toyota Landcruiser FZJ-80 with the 4. 5 liter straight six. I think they will run as long as any diesel. One of the best built and designed engines made. JMHO

I have a 6BT in my IH scout and have a four core stock radiator and electric fan with a Powerstroke intercooler up front. I have no cooling problems. Diesels run extreemly cool. My electric fan only comes on on the hottest days when I am driving slowly. See the adress in my signature below for pictures of my rig.

good luck with the project! I wish I had the the time/money to do one in a CJ. It would be real slick if you could work an intercooler like the IH Scout elsewhere in this forum. Keep us up to date with lots of pictures.

A friend of mine e-mailed that web site last week and I thought it was way cool !!!!!! I like the thought of not using the after cooler ( doesn't appear to need one ) . If I am thinking right you would not get the bennefits from a cooler at low RPM's and low boost -- am I correct ?????

PitBull - I agree with Ya' about the L/C's engines, they are a FINE piece of work ! Toyota has made some fantastic products.

T. Baker -- Lets see some pictures of this thing !!!!! It sounds great.

Treven - How did the front leaf springs like the extra weight ???

What transmission did you use ? I see the gear under/overdrive in between the bell housing and the transmission. Are you still running Dana 44's in that Scout ? It is good to see people using the Cummins B series where they can shine and be used off-road.

Thomas

P. S. Sorry, I just saw the picture with the air bag - I guess that answers the leaf spring question.
