I installed a fuel pressure gauge this morning. I went off the fitting at the back of the filter housing, with Genos hose. Truck idles at 8 psi, at about 1900-2000 rpm it goes down to about 2 psi. Does anyboby have a Carter's part number for the lift pump. I thought I might check a local truck parts dealer to compare a price with that of the Cummins Service center.

I got both of my pumps, the regular one and the pusher from jannettys

Fuel Pump and wiring from

Jannetty Racing ent.

www.jannettyracing.com/diesel

CAR-P4601HP 14 psi electric FP $119

CAR-P4600HP 7# 100 GPG Pusher Pump $119

JRE-P4600HP Pusher pump wiring kit $34

JRE-P4601HP Lift Pump install kit $50

See here a diagram of my system on what I did to make it more reliable and not fail.

With this setup, I adjusted the regulator so that it read 14 psi and when I tow, it don't go down below 12. In the diagram, I forgot to put in the stock filter. it is there, just forgot... This makes all the pumps have a small head pressure even the pusher pump.
