Paid $120 for it at a rice rocket shop. Adjustable in 1 sec. increments, from 0-10 minutes. Looks like a three wire splice into the ign. switch. Digital display, and takes care of a few other functions as well. The only one useful on a diesel is it displays battery voltage and has an adjustable warning (10-15v). Made by a company called Apex, and it's about 1/2" round by 4". Silver, so it matches my silver bezel trim.

Tell us how the install goes. I saw turbo timers in the ricer part of a Summits cat. Thought about it then said maybe not a good idea. Hope I'm wrong.

Now I do have my reservations about the install. After reading the fine print it says remote door locks "may" not work properly after install. I do not forsee any complication with my truck though.

Help: The company has 'splice' harnesses available for effortless install on cars, but I'm stuck hard wiring. Basically 3 important (5 total) wires +12v, IG1 output, and IG2 output. What wires would I tap to connect IG1 and 2 to? Let me know, give me your . $02.

I am thinking it would connect similar to this diagram:

Thats for using a SPA EGT gauge as a cool down devise.

The blue wire keeps the ignition running and the orange wire keeps power to ABS & SRS systems so you don't get any odd dash lamps and fault codes.

Those colors are on my 03, your 04. 5 may be different. Most likely IG1 and IG2 are live outputs for when the system is active.

To test the devise just connect the 12+ and ground only, next turn it on and test those other wires to see what they have on them.

I don't think I have an 04. 5 diagram for your ignition switch connector but will look. I won't be back at work till Monday.

i have an hks it works good for around 100 bucks but my abs light shows up when the ignition turned off but still running the guy that installed it has to hook up another wire i guess but it works good.

If the 04 is the same as the 04. 5 then all they changed is the wire color from my 03 in the connector.

In the 04 diagram- pin #3 on the ignition switch connector (which is along the left side of the steering column) is red and will keep the engine running if you apply 12v to it. Pin #14 is pink with a yellow stripe and should also be powered up so you don't get any warning lamps on the dash when you pull the key out.

The connector is a 14 pin connector so once you locate the pink/yellow wire that is in one of the corner slots because its the last pin you can then find the other pin #3. Pins 8 tru 14 are on one side while pins 1 tru 7 are on the other. So for pin 3 it will be on the opposite row 3 slots down.

One more thing. . if that devise does not have an easy dis-arm feature it would be a good idea to splice in a toggle so if the devise were to short circuit or if for any reason you wanted emediate shut down you could flip the switch. Good idea if someone else drives the truck and are not aware of the devise,

It have a joystick toggle on the front which allows you to scroll thru the menu and also to disable if you want to shut off sooner that the preset time. You push it left or right while in the countdown mode, or you can turn it off completely by doing the same, after the truck is off.

The maker of that unit has some pretty neat gauges too:

This vendor has that gauge listed a $292. 00 so who says a SPA is expensive when you get 2 gauges AND the EGT gauge will work as a cool down devise.

I'm actually thinking of installing a Clifford alarm, Matrix 3. 5 instead. It has built in cool down timer, remote start, paging, top of the line.

I was searching cool down timers and I came across this.

I need an alarm anyways, and I can put the $120 I spent on the Apex timer unit toward it. $300 at Ultimate, but looks like most people get 'em for around $250 or so.
