I went and bought a 4 foot R12 A/C charge hose and hooked it to an aircraft fuel pressure guage. I was able to run the hose thru the hood by the drivers wiper and anchor it to the wiper arm..... Took a drive. At idle, I have 13 psi. At accell, it reads 6-7psi. At cruise in OD at 70 mph I have 9 psi. W. O. T. in drive and OD 5psi. Truck has no mods. Do these #'s sound ok? I bought the hose for $13. 00 and had the guage. Get the four footer if you buy one as it is long enough to test drive the truck with the guage hooked up and the hood down. YA YA, I know, I wouldn't have to worry if I had guages in the truck. I have an E-mail into BD as to the release date for the X-Monitor for our trucks. Will report if I hear anything positive. Fuel Pressuire Readings

My readings are about the same as yours. I received a message from Mopars1 stating the readings should never get below 8psi. I am taking the truck to the dealer Monday.

I would be very interested to hear what your dealer says. My shop manual only says 'minimum of 10 PSI at idle'. I am going to call tomorrow, but I suspect they will just repeat that spec.

The min pressure after the filter is 10 psi according to Dodge and my tech manual. If you are reading anything less the pressure is not good. End of discussion.

My pressure post filter was low out of spec and I had mine replace under warr.

Pump relaced

Dealer replaced my pump today with no problem. I showed him my readings from my Briar Hoppers gauge. The dealers have to call a STAR hot line before replacing lift pump or injection pump. New pump reads 14 at idle and will drop to about 9 psi pulling about 21,000 when peaking out thru the gears. At cruise about 11. Will check 2 times a month. 67,000 miles on truck. Pump was actually below spec for last 30k. :)

Fcrawford, My pump isn't as good as the readings on your new one. I get about 13 at idle but only 5psi at throttle. When you said 9 psi pulling 21k pounds, did you mean at cruise or on it ? Chris

Motorhead

If you are reading 5psi I would say your new pump is not up to par. My DC tech said nothing below 8 psi. Also Mopars1 on the board here states this. My readings at 9 psi were standing on it. Also I got the same readings just pulling my 7500 lb flat bed trailer empty. At cruise I got about 10 or 11 but if I give it throttle it would drop and sometimes would dip down to 8psi. My old pump was in the 5 psi range for about 30,000 miles (current miles 67,000). I am going to monitor this one close and see if and when readings start to drop.

Thanks for info. I'm close to the end of my "36,000 mi chassis" warranty and need to get some things done. I will give them the results of my fuel pressure and tell them to install a new pump. I'm still on the origional one. Chris
