So, when the low pressure HX 55 / 60 Hybrid decides to blow, here is what happens - Check out the tracer grooves from the turbine wheel! The remains flew out, and ended up on the track. Next time, I will have a bar in the exhaust to catch it.

We were doing some simple test passes checking out a few things, and the turbo decided it was time to take the day off. It wiped out the high pressure charger as well. The intake wheel shredded, and kicked parts backwards. Dustin is doing his laundry.

No. We were just doing some messin around, changing gearing and trying some things out. We really were not expecting a hand grenade to go off. The motor went from black to white and oil was all over the wing... . Time for some serious scrubbing... .

Maybe I should leave it like that for SEMA... Show how real race cars look... . Bent, oily, and covered in scars.

At a minimum, I'd have that tube mounted with a plaque and on a wall in the office. Keeps you remembering.

Is Dustin going to need some bleach and a sleeping pilll tonight?

At Indy there was a guy drilling a hole through his through-the-hood stack to install a bolt. I thought you had to have a bolt in there to be allowed to run.

Less dramatic is my housing that is cracked to heck and the lip between the flutes eroded away... ... ... no I didn't pull the big charger to see if it is going away, or the wheel at least!

That picture is a classic..... I'm going to save it!

Jim

Dang Scott, I bet that sounded horrible! Glad to hear Dustin is safe though. Yo Hoot- we don't have that requirement in drag racing ---- yet.....

Exhaust:

All vehicles must be equipped to direct exhaust upward or downward. Two 3/8 inch diameter bolts must be placed in a

cross pattern within one inch of each other as close to the turbo as is practical.

A pulling rule, feel free to use it, dragracers, LOL

Oh I see. Protecting the sled driver I imagine.

Who does that all imply to, for curiousity? :)

It's to protect the spectator and flaggers more than anything, at some of these pulls they are only a few feet from the exhaust.
