Bypass Oil filters for transmission

More Proof for 6.7L cummins

Sittin' at the bar tonight, had only been there for about three sips of a beer. Phone rings, it's a guy I do some regular hauling for. His '05 Furd is broke down and he needs someone to go grab his other '05 Turd to switch. I ain't had enough to even consider it a problem (seriously, three sips) so I take off. I originally planned on taking my truck, but he wasn't sure hook-up height would work so I relented and took his.

Long story longer, he had an injector replaced earlier in the day. He had a load of spendy little heifers on at the time. Trailer sat loaded at dealer whilst they worked. Took off down the freeway and everything was cool... for a little while. He turned off the freeway onto a little narrow road, around a sharp curve nonetheless, when it died, dead. A guy in a Chevy pulled up behind him immediately and said, "I've got a chain, let's get this f#@*'er off the road. " Nearly an hour later I show up with his truck and we switch, leaving the dead one for the tow-truck.

So, we're riding back home in his other Furd and naturally we start discussing trucks. I've known for years that they used to have a CTD ('95 me thinks) and the truck around it gave them lots of grief. transmission issues up the wazoo. Now they run Furds, no matter what. They trade trucks in less miles than I put on in a year. Anyways, he says, "I wish they could put that Cummins in a Ford. Then you'd have somethin'. Ya know ... ... ..... (here it comes)... ... ... ... ... FORD OWNS CUMMINS. " My heart just sank. I thought this guy was smarter than that. I said, "no, they used to own x% and they sold it like 9 years ago. " His reply, "no, they own 51%. So I just reiterated my previous statement and he relented 'cause I'm the one with no life who lives on TDR.

I didn't give him any grief about the Furd 'cause it seemed like he was having a bad enough day as it was.

His '05 that I drove empty to meet him just had a new transmission put in a couple weeks ago. He lost either reverse or all forward gears. Truck now has 31. 3K

His brother had an '05 with transmission replaced last fall for same problem. Both had something simply fall apart, nothing broke or wore out. One lost forward, the other lost reverse, don't remember which. Both are F350 SRW PoS. The one that died is a F350 with F550 springs.

Now this is the 3rd POS that's given them grief in the last 4-5 mos. This one has a whopping 26K on the odo. 25yr. veteran mechanic that did the work had nothing flattering to say about the 6. 0. They keep injectors and other spendy parts on hand 'cause they know they-a-gonna need 'em.

When will these people learn????

As soon as someone takes the time to teach them. Granted, adults should be intelligent enough to fact-find for themselves, but in this world there are those who will continue to pee on the toilet lid & complain about the spray until someone else lifts the lid for them... ...

It's absolutely amazing how bone headed stubborn some of the Ford crowd is about the legend that Ford owns Cummins.

yet most of those furd idiots that claim that Furd does own Cummins... . they say that the Cummins is a bucket full of rattling bolts... . I really dont get it, Chevy guys usually just pick on us Dodge guys, Furd guys are, well, just *******s. They all seem to be know it alls and love thier Furds... . yet if you bring up the 6. 0 issues. . they say its not wide spread... you ask them if they had problems, they hang thier head and say, "well, yeah". Then you ask, well what about so and so's Furd, does he have problems, again, same answer... "well, yeah" you could ask him this about all his Furd buddies and yet in the end, he still will claim that pile of ****ty cast iron under his hood is the best damn thing since sliced bread, and our Cummins is a pile of crap... . but hey Furd owns Cummins! F-ing idiots! :-laf

Got a friend in the same scenario... POS PSD that spends more time in the shop than at home... and while I can understand brand loyalty I've found you can't make someone look at something when their eyes are squeezed tightly shut :-{} ... stupid is taught not born, it's not in the genetic memory to continue to make the same mistake over and over... ya gotta wanna do it again!!! :-laf

Since I last posted I have been informed that the truck I drove the other day had engine troubles shortly after getting it's new transmission. Not sure, but I think it was injectors. That makes 4 major probs on 3 different trucks, all with no more that 30K. Ford won't give any kind of an extended warranty on the new transmission. He's got the balance of factory warranty on the new transmission. That amounts to less than 6K. Doesn't Dodge warrant any repairs for 12mo. /12K?? It's not much, but it's better than a "good luck sucker" on your way out.

I'll give this guy a little credit though. He realizes the sick. ohno is a piece of crap. He wishes he could get a CTD in a Ford. Not sure what's so special about a truck with nagging transmission issues, but I guess that's just me. He's even missing his "old" 7. 3's.

They trade trucks every couple of years and to quote him, "this is why we trade every couple years. We dont have time for problems. " He's right. Downtime sucks, especially in their case. Just one lousy afternoon and he had to reschedule with at least 3 other people for the next day(PITA), almost miss his kid's ballgame(I think he made it), and now he owes me beer, which could prove to be the most costly part...

He's a good guy, he just listens to his Ford dealer way too much.

Examples: Ford owns Cummins

Biodiesel is wreaking havoc on these injectors--that one really "tick" me off

Buy another one, they're better now

OMG, it just keeps getting better...

The aforementioned Fords are back on the road now. Ford told the guy that the problems they've been having are 'cause they're running Amsoil. Aparently it gets too dirty. They are supposed to run a synth blend, heavy duty diesel oil, and change it every 3K. I don't think the guy bought into it, but he's willing to play along to avoid future probs with Ford.

Everytime I hear something from a Ford dealer, it just flat out amazes me.

Guy at work bought a new PSD F350 and he was going around telling everyone if they were smart they would start a small business, buy 1-ton trucks and write off all of the fuel mileage because it was perfectly legal. I said, "I don't think so". He insisted that he could write off ALL of his fuel because it was a commercial vehichle; even the fuel he burned coming to his real job. So I asked several business owners and they said no way. One of them asked his accountant and he laughed out right.

So I told this guy, who seems to be a decent sort, that he needed a new acountant or at least he should admit he was screwing the rest of us by not paying his taxes. He said, "want to bet... " and I said, "how about $100?". He started to think about it and said yes. I said, "good the IRS would have to be the judge. " He looked at me funny and I said, "you do your taxes and I will call the tip line that way I can get the reward money as well. " All of the sudden he got real agitated and said, "you wouldn't do that would you?" and I responded, "well we sure as f... can't go by what your accountant says now can we and that if his accountant was that good what could happen anyway?" At that point I assured him that he was in fact screwing the rest of us taxpayers and if he shut up about it while I was around that I would not involve the IRS and that our bet was canceled. I further directed him that when he was eventually audited not to blame it on me that he was breaking the law because he had my word as an honest tax paying citizen that I was not going to rat him out. He mumbled something about his trustworthy accountant and I mentioned Arthur Anderson and we haven't talked much since.

Yep, another Ford owner.

In most cases, a business can only take deductions to offset profits. So, if you start a bogas busines to take the deductions, you would have to show some income. Decades ago, I think you could start a home business and take deductions against your normal income for up to X number of years, but after that, you had to show a profit. I'm pretty sure those loop-holes were closed a long time ago.

More to the story.

Same guy again. Talked to him today and he said his truck's in the shop again. The one with transmission probs, not the one with injector issues in the first post. Ya know, the one that had injectors issues after the transmission probs but before the other one had injector probs. Confused yet. Good.

Anyways, he said he was seeing absurdly high boost #'s, 100PSI or so. Said the factory gauge redlines at 80PSI and it was over that. "Stuff" started flying apart. Not sure what.

First of all, I've seen that boost gauge and I think it redlines at 40PSI. Either way, what's the dealer advised limit on those, something like 20psi? So even if he's only seeing 50PSI, he got something wierd going on there.

"I could do a wheelie", He said, obviously lying and not pretending not to be.

What would cause power surges like that. He had a programmer, but went back to stock when he started using the truck to pull a trailer. As far as I know he's still running stock programming.

He's a good guy, I'm not trying to rip on him, just his choice of truck.

matter of fact i was "informed" yesterday by a fellow dodge owner here around Fairmont that Ford owns cummins, and after the 2006 year the cummins will be replaced by a twin turbo mercedes engine, ford will then get the cummins, lol, i had to laugh, he also told me his edge box ruined an injector and blew his turbo. i argued to no avail, that cummins was with dodge for a while to come yet, and ford seemed to be contractually bound with international for at least the next 3 years, as well as the development of the new power stroke and cummins series engines, it really makes me wonder where people here this stuff from.
