I bought a set of the Chev wheel cylinders for the Dodge, but now I'm having doubts on them.

Someone was saying unloaded, it's very easy to lock up the back brakes. Is this true??

I may exchange them for some Dodge duallie ones instead. I just don't feel like having to tear all that apart 2 times when I can find out on here. :D

The chevy part must have the same style fittings, bolt pattern, rod travel, spacing [alignment of rods to brake shoes], & the brake line size is important because if the chevy has a smaller line size... then it needs less fluid for full lockup & that would result in faster lockup. It is adjustable via proportioning valve, but why not just get the right one?

On dry pavement I do not have any problems with the rears locking up. But on slick road surfaces, ie wet pavement or gravel roads, I have to pay attention. I got used to it and it doesn't bother me any more. When Im towing however, they are perfect.

I am pretty sure your truck already has the 1 1/16" cylinders. Our 98 does.

We just did this mod. We replaced the 3/4 ton rear wheel cylinders with cylinders off of a 98 1 ton. Dont know about the Chevy cylinders but we like the improvement with the Dodge 1 ton cylinders.

There is more in the 12V forum under "7/8 ton brakes"

I put the Dodge 1 tons in my '99 about 6 months ago. I believe I'm actually seeing better tire wear due to a more even braking distribution.

This is the first time that I've heard of guys doing this mod. What are the benefits? Are the 1 tons that much better? I do alot of towing & always have interest in better braking, but wondering how does this change braking performance? I have a exhaust brake & hardly touch my brake pedal anymore, but better braking is always a concern.

I am looking for a way to get better rear braking from my truck. but I already have a 1 ton. are the chevy cylinders bigger than a stock 1 ton has?
