Getting Roofing to Roof.....

BAD IDEA - Trying to Steal Live Electrical Power Line

I'm considering a new truck for the job. I drive a lot of bad country (county) roads in rural Arkansas in the Fayettville shale gas play area and need something smaller than the old Dodge 3500.

Seriously considering a reg cab Silverado, 4x4 auto. At 21 mpg, and a not bad ride, I'm thinking of trying one.

If I had the time, I'd build a Dodge 1500 reg cab, 4x4, 4bt.

Buy a parts 2nd gen Cummins, then a 4bt, a clean low mileage (bad engine prehaps) 2000 or so 1500 and start swapping parts. But alas, no time.

Anyway, can anyone comment on the Chev.

Thanks,

RJR

we have been very happy with our Z-71. Only minimal repairs, and it has 160,000 miles on it. Still a daily driver, beautiful looking truck too. . Not too fond of how the new chevies look, but hey. . They ride great, and ours rides awesome when off-road. Best of luck to you on your choice!! Keep us posted!

Why not a 3/4T Dodge/Cummins? With the right specs, they can do as good or better on mileage.

My grandpa has a Chevy Avalanche, and says he gets 20mpg. But, IIRC, that engine also runs on 4 cylinders til he gets the power of all 8.

Before I put on my flatbed, I was getting 17. 5mpg with my dually, and it has 4. 10 gears.
