Fellow Rammers:
I just turned 90K miles on my 02 and the transmission was hard shifting and occassionally did not want to go into 1st or 3rd. I bought some Penzoil Synchromesh and changed the fluid. The difference is night and day; the transmission shift very smoothly now.
Interesting, seems like on my truck I need to change it around 35 to 40k miles. The first time I changed it around 40K miles w/ Royal Purple, which didn't do a lot of good. My transfer case burned up at 69. 9K miles, just under the wire for ext warranty. While at DC, they checked the transmission fluid, thought is was burnt 'cause of the purplish color and changed it back to factory fluid. I'm glad they did. The factory stuff works best, in my truck anyway.
So, if your 6spd is shifting badly, you might want to consider changing to either Penzoil or Quaker Stated Synchromesh. Its approved for this transmission.
Cheers, Wiredawg
