One more thing... For the high back booster seats we use, the headrests have to come off. They stop the seats from going all the way against the seat back. Luckily, they store quite nicely in the storage spaces under the seat. :D

Erik - I was in the same boat you were in September of last year. Face it, no matter how you slice it, Ford and Chevy have more room as they are a true crew cab. What it came down to for me was the Cummins. I would trade mine in a minute for a Cummins equipped Dodge wih a true crew cab!

My wife drives a Suburban and the difference in back seat room is amazing. I imagine that's what the Chevy crew cab would be like.

I have twin boys that are 12 months old. We had two rear facing seats for three months before going to forward facing seats. What an amazing difference that made!!! I'm 6'4" and have plenty of room. Only downside is when the little guy behind me kicks me in the back.

Badunit - I see you put a seat in the middle. Did you use the latch hooks from the two side seats or did you use the middle seat belt?

"I'd love to deal with Tommygun, but he can't order CA equiped Cummins. "

If I'm not mistaken the new cummins is legal in all 50 states. someone please correct me if I'm wrong.

I have a 2. 5 year old that rides forward facing in the middle. Even though the latch points are only on the sides, they are not too far apart to use for the middle. The real trick to getting the seat in tight is to kneel in it with most of your weight to get the belt really tight. They are safest in the middle and they also see out the fron better. Leaving the fold flat floor down for a foot rest sounds like a great idea when they get a little bigger.

I find the rear cab to be big enough for adults as well. You will be very pleased with this vehicle.

The book for my 03 says not to use the LATCH hold downs in the middle of a Quad Cab back seat, but the book for the seat says any latch hooks at least 11" apart are ok. I wonder if the reason the truck's book says not to use them is they would interfere with the seat belt latches for the outboard seats?

I'm eating dinner in my truck reading this thread on TDR so I decided to take this picture.

I have the tape at the center of the passenger side inside latch point. There is roughly 27" between those latch points. And you are correct, it would extend the lower anchor points 3" inside the outside seat belt latch.

As you can see from the picture, I have a rear facing child seat in the center of mine mounted with the seat belt.

Thanks! I think my best bet is to use the seat belt installation method as you did. This is with the Graco SnugRide 30LX.
