Probably everyone is sick of the chime questions, but I will add another one anyway.

Yesterday, I was working on the truck and I had the radio on, and as has been my usual practice, I leave the doors open so my geriatric ears can hear the music. I could not get the blessed chime to stop:mad: . On my 98, all I had to do was hit the light button on the driver's side door and the chime would stop, the new design doesn't have a button on the door that I can see. I know I can leave the window down and the door shut, but it isn't the same. Does anyone have the answer?

Service manual says the door switch is integral to the latch. No mention of a way to turn off the chime (other than shut the door or take the key out). Does say that it only chimes with the driver's door open; sounds like you can have the others open without it chiming.

Thanks, Badunit. That was the same read that I got. I found no reference to it in the service manual, either. The chimes only work when the driver's door is open. I wonder if this "feature" has anything to do with the alarm system? I will live with it and not use a heavier hammer to disable the durned thing. Ding, Ding:mad:

Take a small screw driver and pass it thru the door latch, from inside door to outside, this closes the latch, and shuts off the chime. Make sure and pull either the inside or outside door handle to open the latch before you close the door, cause what you did was close the latch, and shuts off the chime.
