Every one of the threads I did a search on was mainly concerned with massive power increases. That is not for me.

I have an 03' HO 4x4, Quad cab, 48RE, 3:73 gear.

I am looking for something with 70-100 hp max. With low egt's, that I can use towing/rec with better gas milage.

I only want to add this and gauges, without any upgrades on the transmission.

The main thing I am looking for is better throttle response, and accelleration.

When I had my 99 Powerstroke, I was pretty happy with just the 50hp Western Diesel Chip.

So... ... is there such a thing?

i am not sure if your transmission will put up with a 70 to 100hp increase. you will have to be carefull.

you will obviously get a lot of differing opinions on this.

there is at least one plug in tuner box that works through the OBD port that claims about what you are looking for.

i like the TST. i love mine and can not imagine being without. if you promise yourself to never go past 6,6 you will get what you are looking for. i run 2,2 daily and that works well for me.

there is also a new box out. the xzillaraider (or something like that). you may want to check it out. do a search in 3rd gen. a few have it already.

edge products should also be in the mix.

many others i can't recall right now.

good luck what ever you decide.

3 of these that I had been looking at were:

Edge EZ

TS adjustable Ramifier

Bullydog Pup

Just so many choices.....

I've had an Edge EZ on my '03 since almost new. It has performed flawlessly. However, since it is a fueling box only EGT's can be an issue. I really like the extra performance when pulling the fiver, but I try to limit sustained RPM's when pulling a hill to no more than 2500. EGT's can get out of hand if you really wind her up on a hill with a heavy load.

I'm looking for the same thing. I'm leaning toward the PUP because it stays in the glove box until I'm ready to turn up the power. Nothing to leave hooked up and 3 levels. Doc

If it matters...

The max I will be pulling is 6500 lbs on a equalize hitch.

(26ft, 5000lb dry weight travel trailer)

Put the EZ on and you won't even know the trailer is back there. It installs and comes out in about five minutes if you need to take it to the dealer. It puts out about all the horsepower you'll want to put through your transmission, but with 6500 lbs shouldn't be a problem.

I have run all three of these on my truck. I will tell you right now you will not go wrong w/ any of these... . BUT... there are advantages and disadvantages w/ all of them. I started w/ a DD TTPM (EZ). Quite happy w/ the performance. Did not like having to get under the hood and changing the jumpers when it was time to pull a load and did not like the rattle when truck was cold. Got a Pup and love the thing to death. Too chicken to run on extreme and the tow mode sucks but the Perf mode is perfect for what I want. Downside is that I have to plug in and reprogram when needed and I will tell you the BH puckers when you plug into the OBD port. Got lucky as all get out w/ the Ramifier. (read Thanks Dennis!!) Ran it for a week by itself and loved the adjustability. You can literally feel the difference as you adjust the knob back and forth :) . I PM'd a few other members of this site, spoke directly w/ one on the phone and went ahead and stacked the Pup w/ the Ramifier... my world is all good. My normal play load w/ the camper and the quad trailer is about what you are pulling.

So after I write all of this I would recommend two places to look at... TS Performance because of the adjustability and Quadzilla's new box because it is getting rave reviews from the guys running it.

Glad I could muddy the water a little bit :(

My mind set was just like yours, mileage, power upgrade. I ordered a TS ramifier adjustable HP box. I could not he happier, good HP gain and more mpgs for my truck. I also upgraded my air intake to Afe stage 2. coobie Oo.

I'd highly recommned that you drive up and see Quadzilla. They are in Fort Worth area. I had the EZ, now the Xzillaraider, and I'm much happier with the feel and convenience of the Xz. And its just as easy to remove for dealer work.

Xzillaraider

As you can see, I have much the same truck as you do only mine is not the HO, it is the SO. I have Quadzilla's Xzillaraider installed in the truck and love it. It is in the cab adjustable for 30, 60, or 100 HP with the twist of a switch. EGT is lower than when I had the Edge EZ installed, the power is smoother, and on the 100 horse settings, the power is incredible. I drive it on the 60 hp setting all the time and I am VERY happy with the box.

I had an EZ on the truck for about 8 months and it idled like a funny car all the time, especially when cold. I put the Xzillaraider on and now the truck idles smooth as a baby's butt all the time!!

Try it, you'll like it. Oh, and the price is pretty good too!!

Oo. :D
