any Mercedes gurus?

We have a F-550 PSD company truck that I have been towing pretty heavy with. ( 32,500 pounds GVWR) :--) with a 32 foot GN trailer.

Anyway, I was told that it had a chip in it. It makes 20 psi of boost WFO..... is that stock for a psd? How do I find the chip?

Go to the DIesel STop, it is the Ford version of this web site. It is free so you can get a username. As for finding out if it is chipped you can remove the plastic piece under the steering column. The ECM is to the left of the column against the firewall, it is about 7" long and 5" wide. On my Excursion the previous owners cut the plastic cover off the end of the ECM and the chip pushes right on the end of it. The chip in mine is a Hypertech Excursion off road . It makes it 300hp 660 torque (that is what Hypertech said) and takes the limiter off the engine, it runs like a striped ape. By the way this is the wifes vehicle mine is the Cummins. Her Excursion will out run my stock Cummins.

Not surre what system my neighbor has, but it sounds like a tool he plugs in to change settings and then un-plugs until he needs to change again. It offers 5 different power levels, changes in shift points, etc.

Superchips and some others have a handheld device that you use to change the factory settings. The Superchips tool has 2 different settings to choose from. Depending on the year of the vehicle, I think it is 40/60hp or 60/80hp. Also depends on whether the settings are for street use or off-road. I think one of them goes up to 120 additional hp.

20 PSI of boost on a PSD,its definetley chipped. How is the pulling power, and does it set the check engine light when its over 16psi of boost?. Im guessing this truck is a 6 speed. 32500 is a lot,but i dont think its dangerously high, the 550 is strong towing platform.

Could you be refering to the Super Chips "Micro Tuner"? If so, it does have 2 different settings, very nice when combined with a Ford EZ. As for the 120hp program, we have several, but this is hard to achieve without injectors, and is not offered in that Micro Tuner. :)

Yeah, i just put a micro tuner on my friends PSD. They advertise 60 and 80 hp increase for the newer PSD and slightly less for the older ones. But, if I remember right, they don't add near as much torque as the EZ adds to the Cummins. The box adds somewhere around 100-120 ft lb's of torque to the PSD.

The service engine soon light comes on if you boost over 25 lbs. Stock my wifes PSD would only make like 12 lbs. Now she has 4" exhaust, K&N cone filter, and a Bully Dog 4 Bank chip (0, 50, 75, 100 HP):p At the 50 hp setting it will easily boost 20 lbs.

Well... ... I was working on the 550 yesterday, (What's new?) and found the "chip". There is a sticker on it that says www.powerhousediesel.com I went to their site but there wasn't a lot of info about there chip.

If you call this a chip I would hate to see what stock is like, what a turd!!

I will be installing a B&W GN hitch in my Dodge soon so we will see how a slightly bombed Ram does vs a chipped PSD.

Wonder how my SRW 2500 will like 32,500 GVWR @ 65mph? :)

Just want to set the record straight on the sticker that is www.powerhousediesel.com. This is not OUR chip. We are a new business that is just getting started (hence the reason there isn't much on our website yet). Please come back and visit us in about a month. There is another company, that is out there, with the same name (which when we searched, wasn't anywhere on the web), but their website is www.dieselpowerhouse.com.

Thanks!
