I've seen lots of trucks w/chrome looking rocker panels. they look like a big sticker to me but cover the whole lower portion of the truck below the trim.

Any one have experience w/them?

They look like they'd cover a few scratches I have and prevent new ones.

They look cool too!!

Most of them are stainless steel to prevent rust etc. from marring the finish. They stick on with double-sided tape and once stuck are miserable to remove to say the least! Lurch is right on the money with the statement that they don't cover all the rockers-they pretty much stop where the rockers begin to curve downwards.

The ones I have on my truck are made by ICI. They make at least 2 heights of them and also make them in a couple different grades of stainless-mine are the best grade for the highest corrosion resistance. There are pics of them on my truck in my photo gallery-they're kinda hard to see on a silver truck but they do show up nice in person. Mine have picked up a few dings now from flying rocks etc. that you can notice when you get right up to it-but from a distance they're pretty much invisible.

ICI also makes stainless inserts that go where the black trim would be on a SLT-these are also on my truck.

Thanks,

Thats what I thought, I just never asked anyone about them. What's a good price on a set like yours (JHANSEN)?

Gives me a starting point when I get to shopping around.

I got mine from Northwest Customs with the word "Dodge" cut out in it. One bit of advice-when installing them have an extra set of hands and spend alot of time getting them straight and aligned, pay careful attention with the last panel at the rear of the bed, I guess because the panel sloped downward and curved upward at the same time it made for a trickier line up and I only realized this AFTER the 3-M bonding tape... ... . BONDED! So now I know what to do for my future truck. Anyway just take your time and go slow, good luck!

Mark I had mine put on at the dealership basically because I was lazy :D ! No actually I wanted to keep even a microscopic rock chip off the truck seeing as I had never actually owned a new truck before-so I had them mount the running boards before delivery. That entailed mounting the wheelwell mouldings first which entailed mounting the rocker mouldings before that even . The dealership I bought from refuses to mount the mouldings themselves-thinking they had a bad experience with a truck somewhere in the past  ! So they sublet the job to a local body shop... . What it boils down to is the rocker panels were $200 CDN and the install another $50. 40 CDN at the end of the game... The insert mouldings I did install myself as they were a special order-they were somewhere around $100 CDN.

Kalaehina has good advice about the install. I helped my brother put a set on his Dakota when he first got it. Pretty simple as long as you prefit everything first, clean the surface good with rubbing alcohol to allow the tape to bond, and make real good and sure the panel is where you want it BEFORE you touch the tape down... .

ICI private brands to a lot of other companies-can't remember the names now but odds are good if you get a set through a truck supply place they'll be ICI... .

I'll have to go shopping. . quietly, so she don't catch me;) As much as i'll spend in the next few months I may be single soon:rolleyes:

Mike,

I like those. . cool pic.

NW Custom

NW Custom without a doubt fabricates the very best stainless steel rocker panels! They are more expensive than all the others... and worth every penney!

Jason (owner of NW Custom) fabricates his rocker panels in either polished stainless steel (by far the most popular) or brushed stainless steel (for the semi-stealth look). A number of different designs can be c. n. c. water-jet cut into the panels. Some of Jason's designs are illustrated on his website... this however, is by no means all of his creative designs. In fact, Custom is part of his name... he can pretty much cutout whatever you want.

I believe Mike Clay has the most unobtrusive design offered by Jason on his rocker panels, the cutout of the Rams head. WOWZY on the other hand, had C U M M I N S (big, bold block lettering) cutout in his NW Custom rocker panels. One of the most popular designs is the Dodge style lettering... I've seen many Rams from Dave Smith Motors with these panels (with or without 4x4 in the rear most panels). One of Jason's newer designs is Cummins (block lettering) with power (script) just below Cummins. There are many more to choose from... or something totally custom, limited only by your imagination and checkbook. :D

PS: nice Ram Mike!
