This truck has been at the service center for the check engine light (CEL) over a dozen times, first visit to the dealer on June 22, 2016 approximately 6000 miles. The only diagnosis code is P24A5 - Exhaust Gas Recirculation (EGR) Cooler Bypass Bank 1 Control Stuck. During the multiple visits to the servicing dealer attempting to correct this issue first by flashing TSB 18-053-14 REV. B, then replacing the EGR valve, PCM, engine-wiring harness, cleaning the EGR system and replacing several other components along with several CEL light resets, still no success in correcting the problem. The light comes on after sitting overnight cranking engine wait a few seconds, 30-60, for the oil pressure to get to operational pressure. Take off in first gear not using the accelerator pedal, change to second gear again not using the accelerator pedal and within 1200 to 1300 feet driving down a slight downhill grade the light trips. This is very predictable and repeatable. Now over a year later the latest attempt was installing a data logger provided by RAM and Cummins monitoring the operation of the truck. Well this was also to no avail. First, instructions were to operate the truck as I usually do, then after the CEL tripped, the new instructions were to crank the engine, let it idle for 3 – 5 min for the computer to synchronize with the download computer via satellite. None of this has been unsuccessful in correcting the problem. Returned the last time on July 20, 2017 and they removed the data logger and said a software update is forthcoming. My question is are any other RAM owners having this issue, and if so what the corrective action was? If this is a fluke with just this truck, I would also like to get some ideas from this forum in hopes to find and correct the issue.
