Diesel Fuel Tanks- Material

Probably because most diesel owners have historically bought diesels with the intent to keep them more than five years, and many, if not most, do so in practice.

I had my 95 for 10 years and would have kept much longer if Chrysler hadn't had such great incentives at that time. In addition NADA had a high value on the 95 Dodge/Cummins 4x4 QC, which I got when I sold it.

Ahhh they dont last over 5 years anyways :-laf

seems to me that they will keep an eye on your records as well. Im just guessing but if you dont take your vehicle to the dealer lets say in 5 years and the trans goes out they will be quick to void your warranty EVEN IF you take your car to JiffyLube and have it changed..... I can see the storm clouds darkening already!

That is against Federal law, they can not deny warranty claims based on where the vehicle is serviced or if you have records to show you serviced it yourself.

Some of the small print requires that the powertrain be inspected every 50k to keep plan in effect (by a dealer)

That's a double DAMN... . real bummer!

But i'll bet their right, you will have to have the ******* do every bit of maintance and exactly on time... .

Why is the word ******** censored in my post???????? This is not a foul word, I think it hits the nail on the head, and I first saw it on this website.

Maybe because it is offensive to good dealers and or dealership personel. There are good and bad in every walk of life, dealerships and the industry you are in;) Enough said.

As long as it doesn't cost the customer, the Warranty can specify who does what, with what materials, and when. Otherwise, it's a potential Magnusson-Moss Act violation. One exclusion would be if the manufacturer can prove to the FTC's satisfaction, that only the OEM can produce a proper part to repair it, or other maintenance items. BTW, the act does not apply to items sold for resale or commercial purposes, only consumer use. A truck sold to a business as a business vehicle wouldn't be a consumer vehicle.

Lifetime powertrain warranty (OH WELL)

Well they treated me so well ( at taking my money on warranty items) that I shall NEVER HAVE ANYTHING TO DO WITH THAT DISHONEST LOT EVER AGAIN. The Topkick except for the automatic trans is looking better all the time. :)

2-ND TIME, off subject here, but I just read your sig, you should have been about 170 to 180 rwhp stock, that mechanic is wrong.

warranty items

Sorry don't think so because my 93 3/4 ton gave me 155 out of the 160 tuned engine with 2to 3 % more effiency I expected more then that. The ones I talked to then, said 210 to 220 RWHP. Loaded welding trucks had no trouble getting out of an intersection ahead of me empty.

210 or 235 is the rated output of a 24 valve, standard and HO respectively, and not rwhp. So if you have a regular 24v that means you are loosing 80 hp to the drivetrain. Why would yours be that low when others dyno stock at around 170-180 rwhp? When mine was stock it was no slouch, it could take off good for a truck, adding just the 275's and exhaust made a noticable difference. Also, the 300's and the 275's are the same injector, see here

There are other threads that reference this as well.
