Anybody have any more information than what is in the factory manual for the Chrysler Collision Detection Bus? I was installing my BD X-monitor gauges this past weekend and had a brain fart. I tried to tie into the power source without disconnecting the battery first. As a result, I created an arc on what I thought was the ignition switch power source (pink/black wire running down the steering column). I now have no power windows or speedometer and my ABS and Air Bag idiot lights are on. I checked all the fuses and all are fine. Reviewed the factory manual for any commonality between the circuits for these four items (NONE). Only conclusion I could come to was that I did something to the CCD Bus. The manual only tells you how it works. Doesn't say where it is located, how to test it, how to replace it, etc. Any info would be appreciated.

The pink/black wire you have is powered up by fuse #2 in the power distribution center under the hood. This is hot all the time.

Man ! Bad Luck !

If it were me, I'd approach this as possibly two separate problems, but start with the easier one.

I would try to find out why the power windows lost power.

They probably have no interaction with the CCD bus.

Check all fuses, even hidden in-line fuses & circuit breaker # 1.

Be sure to check for any codes.

This same lack of power could be responsible for the speedo pulses not getting to the computer, maybe the pulse sender has no power also. I once started my truck after a fuel stop and my alternator idiot light was on and the truck would not start out in first gear (auto trans). After looking in the manual long enough, I finally found the same power source from the computer box feeds the alternator field and the some of the transmission circuitry. Go figure!

Lots of other things run on the CCD bus, so it's unlikely you popped the bus. But if you fix the other problems and the two idiot lights remain on, you could try unplugging each item on the bus one by one until you find which device, when disconnected, restores the two idiot lights to off.

Good luck.
