Here is a link I found that has the Chrysler/Dodge dealerships that are on the "Hit List" to be closed.

Thanks for posting that. 5 in all in Wyoming, 2 of which I would have been surprised if they had survived this. The other 3 I didnt even think about.

At least here locally, they closed the best dealerships(service and parts wise) and left the ones open that had the worst parts departments and worst service dept's and tech's. Looks like we'll all be driving a little further to find somewhere to get decent service and parts availability. I wonder how long it will take them to increase the flat rate and parts prices now that there is a limited number of dealers available to repair vehicles and to buy parts????? In the end we're going to get it(in the end)before it's over----IMO!!!!

Our local Dodge dealer is on the list. When I bought my truck from him in 2006, he was "Dodge-Toyota. " For the past few months, after moving into a brand new facility, he's been "Toyota-Dodge. " I got a service flyer in the mail from him last week, and the return address was just "Toyota. " I guess he suspected something.



Looking over the list, I saw several dealers around the country where I have bought Chrysler products over the years. It's really sad for the people involved, and the towns that won't have a local dealer anymore.

How would you like to be a major parts supplier to GM or Chrysler, as they both shut down for the summer reorganization - shutting YOU down with them, and putting your employees on extended no-pay "holidays"...

I see that the one where I bought my 09 isn't on the list. That's good since they have a competent service and parts dept. But the dealer that is closer to home and has better prices on parts and service is closing.



I wonder if this will, in addition to higher prices for parts and service, also substantially increase wait times for getting into the dealer for repairs?

The small town dealer where we have purchased all of our Rams is on the list, Graft Chrysler, Dodge, Jeep in Scottdale PA. I figured it was going to happen... . they probably have less than 2 dozen new vehicles left on the lot at this point.



I personally am going to greatly miss that place. The owner was the salesman. No fuss, no mess, very easy to deal with. He always sponsored the local car shows, parades, etc. It's a sad day in our town.

There's FAR more unseen damage than what many casual onlookers comprehend - lots of supporting industries and individual workers lose jobs and incomes when the major companies fail or shut down - how well would YOUR finances hold out if your employer (and your paycheck!) shut down for 8 weeks or more?



There's still plenty of crap waiting to hit the fan... .

I may be wrong about Carson Dodge... . the list I saw said Carson Jeep after looking closer.



I agree with Gary, this will be very far reaching and autos are a small piece of the puzzle. Working in the construction industry brings light to many other ways that things are being affected.

My local dealer, who is within walking distance, is on the list. The nearest dealers are an hour away. That sucks. I can understand eliminating overlap, but how do they propose outlying areas get service? My truck is out of warranty, so it's not a huge deal to me.

I just heard on the news tonight that Chy was not going to take back any of the closing dealerships inventory or parts. I wonder if there might be some deeper price breaks coming on vehicles and parts. Might be a good time to buy some parts cheap--brakes, U joints, suspenison parts, etc etc.

Ok. I didnt know if you were thinking just that or some other far-reaching consequences I guess of this. It surely isnt great; wonder what the long term effects of this will be, for those dealers and the companies themselves

Well TS&S in Bend is on the list BUT the Jeep dealer a couple of blocks away is still going to be around, they also sell Nissan, Volvo, and maybe another line or two.



TS&S is the ONLY Chrysler & Dodge dealer within at least 100 miles of here. They are in a town of 80K and probably serve a population of 200K or so within that 100 mile radius. I can buy a new truck anywhere, BUT getting work done will be a pain, especially as much as some of the 2010 emissioned trucks go back for warranty work.



TS&S does also sell Subaru, but the Chrysler part of the organization is several times bigger, pretty tough loss here locally.



John, the tech there that has done a lot of the work on my truck is very good, we are on a first name basis, this just plain sucks for all the employees.



It was reported here on the news that since Chrysler is in bankruptcy that ALL parts, equipment and inventory is the dealers responsibility to dispose of and apparently if they have been axed they can no longer sell the inventory to the public since they are no longer part of the family, it was reported they have to sell inventory to another dealer.

I would agree about Doug Graft After all the city slickers it was DC's last chance for a sale (other brands out there). He got it

Now back to the wisdom side of this DC never addressed any of my issues/problems.

Then @ 5th day delayed delivery discovered 1 mirror gone, then before 100 miles BOTH $600 mirrors had simply fell out.

It cost me 150> miles 8 hours and 3 weeks to get the second replaced. His service was like it was another division ,as they were just as bad as the city schmucks blaming me and the run around for a design flaw in a $20 mirror.



So with the Gov't continued infinate wisdom they keep all the overpriced under/incompetent staffed dealers.

that charge $80h and 3 hours to change a belt.



Maybe they can build the UNVagen

No one has mentioned the primary reason Chrysler is eliminating dealers . . . to reduce the need by remaining dealers to complete with other Chrysler/Dodge/Jeep dealers in their market area. Fewer dealers will allow them to become more profitable by charging more for products and service.

It's going to be rather difficult to increase profitability as long as cars and trucks aren't selling .
