Chrysler restructure and focus changes...

Thanks, TDR Staff

I did it! 802 Series!

Travel companion great for both

Daimler Chrysler kind of has a two-fold issue going on. First, like all the other manufacturers they have a drop in sales that's kicking their wallet. Second, they are closing a manufacturing plant in Iran, believe it's a Mercedes plant. That closure is due to the sanctions in place on Iran. Seems that there are parts in the Mercedes models that are manufactured in the US and the US gov will not allow the ship out to Iran. So, since DC manufacturers these parts in the US maybe the personnel cut is more relative to people that make the parts? Also, they are completing another plant for manufacturing in Saltillo MX, and it will be replacing an old out-dated plant's manufacturing. This is just the beginning, quite a few more of DC's plants will be phased out in the US.

What is sad,,, is that our Country is blowing Billions in Iraq. What if they (our govt) bought out Daimler and kept the jobs right here in the good'ol USA? That would be money well spent. The political posturing about terrorism, you bet. We are getting killed by Market terrorists called China. I would rather our TAX dollars go into USA manufacturing, then lost in IRAQ or paid to china as interest on our 2 trillion dollar loan.

I am a right-wing conservative, so do not confuse that with my stance on Iraq

I'm right there with you Heavyweight. Actually our country is blowing trillions in Iraq, let alone all the other places we are blowing big $$$'s. I remember when our country loand the bucks to Chrysler to bail them out under Iacocca's reign. All that really happened is that Chrysler got solvent and sold out to Daimler. We ARE getting killed by market terrorism, from all those countries and industries that we gave assistance, talk about biting the hand that fed you!

I am also pretty much a conservative, not right or left wing oriented. I too have a stance regarding Iraq, we should have left the day we liberated them and let them sipher it out right from there, no plan was in place for a gov startup and now we're caught up in all their nonsense. I DO believe that we must support our troops, but we also must get out of there, mission accomplished. I am a Veitnam vet, looks like Vietnam to me in many ways.

We here in America need to end the outsourcing of our jobs, the outsourcing of our people for jobs elsewhere. America needs to get a grip on the real reality and take back industry and control. We need to stop the tax credits to corporations with outside our country enterprises and bring things back where they belong. We also need a change in the American workers mindset to go along with all of this. Just my opinion about this stuff. I don't want to start a flame war here, but in the moment i felt it important to get this off the old chest.

CD

Sounds pretty basic. Survival of the fittest.

While the socalled domestics are outsourcing Toyota and Honda are growing in sales, and creating new factories here in the US. If DC can't get their act together, so be it.

Maybe DC, Ford, and GM should look to the leaders in the auto industry for insight on how to run a business.

Also interesting to note, Toyota and Honda have never had layoffs. If I were working for DC, Ford, or GM, I know where my resume would be going.

So you have no national pride? To bad, it used to be that made in the USA by AMERICANS meant something. Our Country is headed down the shi!!er, but that is ok, we will be owned by China and Japan outright. When do we get down on our hands and knees?

This country needs to turn off welfare, slap a huge tariff on China, and kick all the politicians OUT of their rooted seats. We need to take this Country BACK! I am sick and tired of seeing American Companies laying off because they can not compete with "SLAVE" labor.

Bush, Clinton and all the rest of the windbags that look after their “OWN” interests could give a crap about you and I. We need to shut the border with Mexico. We need to kick all the illegals not working OUT! We need to give TAX incentives to produce products in the UNITED STATES!

This line of crap about poor quality etc. The electronics industry used to be #1 when produced in USA. Now that ASIA produces electronic parts, they are all GARBAGE! That’s right. Our Space and Weapons systems are #1. The reason, we control the market. Someday, it will all be outsourced and we will have NOTHING.

Read my lips, we will have NOTHING! Our kids are being taught how to accept homosexuals instead of MATH! Our kids are learning they are victims of autism instead of self accountability. We are in trouble, and we only have OURSELVES to blame. How in the he!! do the kids of today turn this boat around? Answer, they dont. The sluts on TV are more important in the news, then Muslim terrorists. Another drugged up hollywood idiot is more important then a childs homework. Our future is dimm, maybe AL Gore will save us?

I agree with part of what you wrote except for some parts of the above... I run and own a couple of companies and I could be very successful if I could just get a few people with something called "PRIDE IN WORKMANSHIP" AND MOVE FASTER THAN A TURTLE! heck I would not be surprised if that alone would make the production lines profitable. Americans use to have work ethics and pride but the majority of us with teen kids have raised a bunch of spoiled ungrateful bodies that think like State employees that they deserve everything instead of working to get what you want in life.

Sorry Rant over #@$%!

Well, it's great to see someone else thinks like I do. I was thinking half of America

was brain dead ( well maybe they are).

It is so obvious the borders need to be secured, I think a 7th grader could figure

that out.

But what should we expect, after all, the kids have been and are being brain washed in schools to be politically correct socialists so all this seems normal to them.

I threw my TV in the trash about 12 years ago so you know what I think of the

media.

Recently I have seen where Mexico dictated to us to procecute the 2 Border Patrol

agents who apprehended a drug smuggler. It was apparent to me months ago

Bush was working for Mexico, now there is no doubt. And this is coming from

a guy who voted for him.

Personally I don't see any way out of this except a revolution in the years to come.

End of rant.

As for the Mexico border, I just got this today from a friend of mine whom happens to be from Mexico...

Now tell me, how do we get this passed for our country?! Not a bad

idea,

> huh?

>>>> Please, make sure you read all the way to the bottom before you

pass judgement... interesting...

Immigration Laws

>>>> There will be no special bilingual programs in the schools, no

>>>> special ballots for elections, all government business will be

>>>> conducted

>>>> in our language. Foreigners will NOT have the right to vote no matter

>>>> how long they are here.

>>>> Foreigners will NEVER be able to hold political office.

>>> Foreigners will not be a burden to the taxpayers. No welfare, no

>>>> food stamps, no health care, or other government assistance programs.

>>> Foreigners can invest in this country, but it must be an amount

>>> equal to 40,000 times the daily minimum wage.

>> If foreigners do come and want to buy land that will be okay, BUT

>>> options will be restricted. You are not allowed waterfront property.

>>>> That is reserved for citizens naturally born into this country.

>>> Foreigners may not protest; no demonstrations, no waving a foreign

>>> flag, no political organizing, no bad-mouthing our president or his

>>>> policies, if you do you will be sent home.

>>> If you do come to this country illegally, you will be hunted down and sent straight to jail.

> Harsh, you say?... ... ... ... .....

I love you man :-laf You just became my idol just for the reason you threw away your television, I hate tv and am always complaining about the bull crap my wife watches

And for the schools :-{} the crap I hear kids taught is bull, I dont push any of my beliefs religious or political or otherwise on my daughter and I have a major problem when teachers go beyond teaching and push their believes on my kid, I want my child to learn both sides of every story and decide for herself what is right or wrong

Sorry RAnt almost over :-laf

What was this thread about?

I usually dont venture into the politcal forum just for this reason

The thread originally started out showing that the companys with huge legacy costs are struggling (i. e. Chrysler, GM, Ford, Delphi), a foreign company bought Chrysler and is trimming the fat! Then a few internet politicians vent their opinions on how the government should artifically prop up failing "American companies" in order to "help" the US economy which is doing very well by the way. . P. S. for those of you that feel that Honda and Toyota are imports keep in mind my gf's Civic was made about 40miles from my house while my Dodge was made in Mexico and the engine was cast in Brazil. The all American Ford Mustang is only like 65% American made (parts/labor) while the Toyota Sienna van is over 90% american made.

Chrysler is going to cut 13,000 Jobs.

The bottom line is America needs to be a powerhouse in the manufacturing arena. Chrysler is being crapped on, and there is no silver lining, so I was stepping up to the plate for the pseudo American Company. Maybe too much to ask.

Why shouldn't the government help them out? They wast huge amounts paying farmers not to farm.

Because America doesn't need Ford, GM, or DC. There are plenty of other companies, including automobile companies who can employ these workers. And better yet, these other companies are focusing on building more in the US instead of elsewhere like the aforementioned three are doing.

If the managment of those companies can't figure it out, then whey should the government help them? And then after that, should the government help all failing business models?

Isn't competition great? After all, the competition from the companies currently succeeding should push those who aren't doing well either out the door, or push them up a notch. This benefits their customers in the long run, anyway, right?

Kind of funny... some of us pick on the American workers being slackers (and I won't disagree)... I think more than a few of us are posting from work.

As I recall most everything is this counrty WAS made available from the tax dollars of American business be it Manufacturing , Mining, Farming , Auto Industry and others. We should support those who made this country what it is.
