CI-4 Engine Oil

The CI-4 specification was primarily developed for EGR diesel applications. Although the CTD does not have EGR, my owner's manual specifies the use of a CI-4 oil.



Are there any advantages to the CI-4 oil in a non-EGR application?

It'll hold more junk in suspension than the CH-4 rating did.



Not sure whether thermal stability is also improved.
